Biography
Priyanka Chopra was born on July 18, 1982 at Jamshedpur, Jharkhand to Dr. Ashok Chopra and Dr. Madhu Akhauri. She has a brother Siddharth, who is 7 years younger. Being the first girl child in the extended family, she grew up amidst the love of grandparents and other family members. At home, she was nicknamed Mimi.M

While she was born in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, she also spent her childhood in Rae Barreilly, in Uttar Pradesh as well as in Lucknow, where she was enrolled in the La Martiniere Girls' School. She also studied at St. Maria Goretti in Bareilly, and later went to the United States, where she was a student at Newton North High School in Newton, Massachusetts and North Delta Senior Secondary School in North Delta before returning to India to complete high school at Army School (Bareilly). She joined Jai Hind College in Mumbai to pursue degree course but left the college after winning Miss India title.

Priyanka got the opportunity to participate on Femina Miss India pageant (2000), she came as first runner-up in that contest. Incidentally all the three Miss India personalities of the pageant went on to win their respective titles for the year - Miss India Lara Dutta became Miss Universe 2000 and second runner-up Diya Mirza became Miss Asia-Pacific 2000 and Priyanka became Miss World 2000. She became the fifth Indian woman to win Miss World title, and the fourth Indian woman to win in a span of seven years.

Career in Movies

Soon after the stardom in the big stage of beauty pageants, she was enticed to make a career in silver screen. She first appeared in Tamil movie Thamizhan (2002), but in the same year she made her debut Bollywood role in movie The Hero. This movie bagged good reviews for her as a newcomer and the movie turned out to be a highest grossing film of that year.

Her next film, Andaaz (2003) opposite Akshay Kumar was a big success at box office, earning her a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award and a nomination for Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award.

She is a beauty with talent and good voice. In 2005, she appeared in Barsaat she even did playback singing for the movie. She has won number of awards to date for her performance in Andaaz, Aitraaz, The Hero, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Krrish and others. There was no turning back for her and she went on making great performances with varied roles in movies.

As of 2008, there are almost 28 films where she has taken her roles wither as a lead or in some as special appearance. Her upcoming movies are Chamki Chameli (2008), Drona (2008), God Tussi Great Ho (2008), Love Story 2050 (2008),
