 Margaret Cushing "Meg" Whitman (born August 4, 1956) is an American businessman. Originally from Long Island, New York, she graduated from Princeton University and Harvard Business School. Whitman served as a senior executive at The Walt Disney Company, where she was vice president of strategic planning in the 1980s. In the 1990s, she worked as an officer of DreamWorks, Procter & Gamble and Hasbro. Whitman was president and CEO of eBay FRA 1998 to 2008. During his ten years with the company, she oversaw the expansion of 30 employees and $ 4 million in annual revenues to more than 15,000 employees and $ 8 billion in annual revenues.

In February 2009, Whitman's candidacy for governor of California, became the third woman in a period of twenty years to run for office. She won the Republican primary election in June 2010. The richest woman in the fourth state of California with a net worth of $ 1.3 billion in 2010 , she spent more of their own money on his candidacy than any other self-financed political candidate in history U.S. , to spend $ 144 million all of its own assets and $ 178.5 million, including donors.  Whitman lost to Jerry Brown in November 2 Options.
