Papillon, also called the Continental Toy Spaniel, a breed of dog is a spaniel type. One of the oldest and Toy Spaniels, named after its characteristic butterfly-like appearance of a long fringe of hair on the ears. Papillon with dropped ears called Phalen (French moth). A small head is slightly rounded between the ears in shape. The muzzle is a bit 'short, thin and tapering to the nose. Dark, medium size, round eyes are fine, blacks, often extending to the junction of the eyelids to the ears. Big ears may be erect or dropped rounded. Teeth meet in a scissors bite. Long tail has moved high on the body, and covered with long fine hair. The spurs are sometimes removed. Straight, long, thin, one layer is a more frill on the chest, ears, back, legs and tail. Coat color is white patches of any color.
